Rocky joined Happily Furever After Rescue over a year and a half ago in March 2024, and from the very beginning, we sensed that something wasn’t quite right. At first, we thought his struggles were simply the result of being feral. But after a thorough evaluation by our trainer—who also carefully reviewed videos of Rocky as a puppy—it became clear that his challenges ran much deeper than we ever realized.

Per her recommendation, Rocky met with a behavioral veterinarian, and our suspicions were confirmed: Rocky has been living with severe, chronic pain—pain he’s been hiding from us all along.

His prognosis is still uncertain, but we’ve now begun a pain management trial with various medications that we hope will bring him comfort and relief. There is also the possibility that Rocky may have underlying neurological issues, which will require further medical testing to understand the full scope of his condition.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward:

Medical testing to determine the root cause of Rocky’s pain (including possible neurological evaluations/MRI scans)
Medications and treatments to manage his pain and improve his quality of life
Behavioral training to help him build confidence, cope with fear, and prepare for life in a furever home
