UPDATE: THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who have helped! Their was a little change of plans (to save some money), and the dogs will stay in Bama for a while with my mom (thank you Billie) housing them and taking to them to the vet there. They have already been dewormed and received their first round of shots, and treatment for a fungus they had. I have updated the page with new, healthier, pics. Based on current weight (2-4lbs @ 6weeks), we are anticipating mid-sized dogs (25-40lbs full grown). There are 4 females and 5 boys.
Please keep sharing, giving if you can, and looking for forever homes for these adorable pups!
Thank you all for reading our story...the BAMA9 story! We NEED your help! It's urgent.
My name is Michelle Colburn..I'm a single fur baby momma and animal lover/advocate living in Georgetown, TX. My parents are still going strong (thank the good Lord!) and they are my biggest fans. They live in Alabama, where the majority of my extended family live too, and they are huge animal lovers also.
My cousin, who is only 16, and has a HUGE heart, called me today (her mother passed away last year) a bit panicked. She found 9 puppies dumped near her house in the country. She took them to her house, but she is having to keep them in the garage in the heat. She didnt know what to with them. They were hungry, had no momma with them, are dirty, and covered in fleas. We had to get a plan together.
After calling numerous rescues/shelters/vets/police,etc. she felt helpless. We had to call grandma Billie. As usual she pulled through! My mother is willing to drive them to me this weekend (not a short drive) because Austin/Georgetown have a lot more resources than where they are from (it is impossible to get support there for strays). I want to give these puppies the lives they deserve. However, I live in a 1-bedroom apartment and need some serious suppprt to make this happen. I can't foster all 9. Is there anyone out there that would foster a baby or two until I find them homes? I'll coordinate the funds for the food and vet care while we get them ready for their new homes. Please comment here asap if you're in the Austin/Georgetown/Waco area and you can open up your home as early as Sat (I'm looking for indoor/outdoor homes, do not want them out in the heat, need them in safe environments, etc.). I could use help naming too!!
My people always pull through for me. It's incredible. Where are my animal lovers? I need you today! I know my page is filled with fabulous people who are kind, thoughtful, resourceful, generous, and LOVE animals. With that said, we will need quite a bit of $$$ to get these pups vetted, fed, potentially some crates/beds/treats/toys. Please feel free to reach out if you can donate any of the above or if you can help financially. I'm estimating about $3.5K is needed for all 9. That's about $350/pup (based on attached estimate from vet of $300 - which doesnt include de-worming) and food, etc. If you want to sponsor (and name) a pup, you can do that.
Please donate if you feel led here if you feep led.
OR if you feel safer donating directly to a place, I will be using Jarrell Animal Hospital in Jarrell, TX for their care (under Michelle Colburn). Just call and let them know you'd like to pay towards the 'BAMA 9' fund.
It will be very appreciated and all will be used directly for the pups. Thank you so much for your generous hearts!
Warmest regards,
Michelle, Billie, Reagan & Bama9.
