This is Foot Work Records — a vinyl bar and record store built around music, community and culture.
After just two years in operation, we've been informed that our landlord will not be renewing our lease, citing plumbing upgrades as the only reason. The timing is particularly difficult because we invested approximately $13,000 renovating the space and another $15,000 obtaining the permits needed to serve beer and wine and host DJs. We only received our beer and wine permit in June 2025 and our entertainment permit in December 2025, making it feel like we finally got everything in place just as the opportunity is being taken away.
Over the past two years, Foot Work has become much more than a record store. It's a place where people come to discover music, dig for records, attend listening sessions, hear DJs play in an intimate setting, and connect with others who care deeply about sound and culture.
We've also been fortunate enough to welcome music legends like The Egyptian Lover, Doc Martin, and DJ Sneak through our doors, alongside countless local DJs, artists, collectors, and music lovers who have helped shape the community around the space.
Now we face the challenge of finding a new home and rebuilding everything that has made Foot Work special.
With your support, we hope to keep Foot Work in Long Beach and continue building on what we've created here.
We are asking for support to help make that transition possible.
Funds raised will help cover:
• Security deposits and lease setup costs for a new space
• Moving inventory, equipment, and fixtures
• Rebuilding the listening bar and record store setup
• Permitting and licensing in a new location
Our goal is simple: to keep Foot Work alive and continue building a space for music, DJs, artists, and community.
This is about more than a physical location. It's about preserving a space that has introduced people to new sounds, fostered friendships, supported local artists, and created memorable experiences for thousands of visitors.
If Foot Work has ever meant something to you—a record you discovered here, a night you remember, a set you played or heard, or simply a feeling you had walking through the door—we would be deeply grateful for your support.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us take the next step toward keeping this community alive.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us carry it forward.
