A tree fell through Anita & Joseph Hagers' home Tuesday, June 17th. They were trapped inside the bedroom for quite some time. There is no insurance, and the home is a total loss. By the grace of God, both survived. Joe is paraplegic, and Anita is also disabled. Neither drive. The tree fell directly into their bedroom where both spend most of their time. All clothes, medical needs, and daily essentials were lost, with the exception of Joseph’s wheelchair. Joe spends 95% of his time in bed since Anita does not have the physical ability to help him transfer into his wheelchair. They are staying with their son Michael & daughter-in-law Amber in Newton, WV. This will most likely be a permanent living situation due to the fact Anita is no longer able to solely care for Joe. A wheelchair-accessible van to transport Joe and Anita to and from hospitals and medical appointments is a dire need since Michael & Amber only have one vehicle. Joseph is in and out of the hospital often, and Newton is much further from his medical needs in Charleston. Amber will also help care for the two of them. These are two people that normally ask for nothing, but the need is great.
