Gwenny's leven op z'n kop

Ken je dat gevoel, je wordt op een dag wakker en je hele leven staat op z’n kop?

Hopelijk niet, maar dit gebeurde op 21 februari 2023 wel voor Gwenny. Op deze dag kreeg zij de diagnose borstkanker, met op haar schoot haar dochter Z. van net 6 maanden.

Er volgt een stroomversnelling aan onderzoeken en bij elke stap werd de diagnose

steeds slechter. Het zwartste scenario wordt werkelijkheid, de kanker is uitgezaaid door heel haar lichaam. En nu heeft zij jouw hulp

nodig.

Gwenny's leven

Gwenny is een bekend gezicht in Zoetermeer en altijd betrokken bij de gemeenschap.

Misschien kent u haar wel van de C1000, van haar vele jaren achter de bar/balie bij

sportschool Fitpoint of als het bekende gezicht en vertrouwde stem aan de telefoon van

Chiropractie Zoetermeer. Twee jaar geleden is Gwenny gevraagd om op de lijst van een

lokale partij van Zoetermeer te staan, waarop zij direct volmondig JA! zei. Mede omdat zij

zich wil inzetten voor anderen. Zoals zij zelf zegt: Verandering begint bij jezelf, een kleine

verandering, groot effect!

Gwenny’s leven is de laatste jaren, op z’n zachtst gezegd, uitdagend geweest. Met haar

vastberadenheid en haar positieve instelling heeft ze zich kranig staande gehouden. Ook

toen zij als alleenstaande moeder haar dochter verwelkomde. Nu staat ze voor de immense

uitdaging om voor haar dochter Z. te zorgen, terwijl ze tegelijkertijd hard aan haar

gezondheid werkt. Zij is alleenstaande moeder, Z. heeft geen vader, opa en oma zijn ook de jongste niet meer en oma heeft zelf ook borstkanker overwonnen. Dit zal haar zwaarste strijd ooit worden, die zij moet winnen om voor haar dochter te kunnen zorgen en haar te zien opgroeien! Wie gaat er anders voor Z. zorgen?

Dit is waarom Gwenny nu onze hulp nodig heeft!

De inzamelingsactie

Deze inzamelingsactie is opgezet om Gwenny te ondersteunen in haar strijd tegen

uitgezaaide borstkanker, een nieuwe behandeling met een beter perspectief dan een magere 2 tot 5 jaar!

Gwenny en wij, allemaal waren we verbijsterd: “Vanaf het moment dat ik het nieuws kreeg,

gingen er een miljoen gedachten door mijn hoofd. Hoe moet dat met Z.? Hoe ga ik dit

vertellen aan mijn familie, mijn vrienden, mijn collega’s, mijn oud-collega's, mijn patiënten,

mijn partijgenoten!? Maar vooral: DIT IS NIET WAAR! Ik voel mij niet ziek, ik zie er niet ziek

uit. Ja, ik ben vermoeid, maar ik heb net een prachtige dochter gekregen. Hoe erg kan het

zijn?!”

Het is WEL waar. De kanker heeft haar lichaam overgenomen. Er werd in het ziekenhuis niet

meer gesproken over genezen, maar over levensverlengend behandelen. Twee tot vijf jaar..

TWEE tot VIJF jaar! Daar zit ze dan als 36-jarige vrouw, in de bloei van haar leven met een

kleine meid op haar schoot. Een kleine meid die zij zelf wil grootbrengen, zelf naar school wil brengen en zelf wil uitzwaaien naar de middelbare school. En zelf zou willen weggeven op haar bruiloft…

Gwenny gooit gelijk haar leven om; alles gaat op de schop. Mentaal, emotioneel en fysiek

sterker worden. Gwenny heeft haar voeding aangepast, stapels boeken en medische

artikelen gelezen en gesprekken gevoerd met verschillende behandelaren, conventioneel en

alternatief.

Hoop doet leven!

Nu heeft Gwenny een behandeling gevonden die hoop en hopelijk uitkomst biedt!

De behandeling omvat alles, de laatste zet die haar lichaam nodig heeft; het klinische deel, voeding, supplementen

en het mentale deel. Deze behandeling wordt alleen niet vergoed door de zorgverzekering.

Het is te nieuw, te experimenteel en te duur voor een alleenstaande moeder! Maar het is wel veelbelovend en wordt nog niet door Nederlandse artsen aangeboden, wel bijvoorbeeld in België.

Samen kunnen we ervoor zorgen dat zij deze behandeling wel twee keer kan doen.

Waardoor ze de best mogelijke overlevingskans krijgt en een toekomst samen met haar dochter.

Gwenny inspireert altijd anderen om door te gaan, om sterker te worden. Nu willen wij háár

inspireren, laten we haar omringen met liefde en steun, zodat ze zich niet alleen voelt in deze onmenselijke periode.

Omdat zij dit gevecht tegen borstkanker echt niet alleen aan kan, heeft zij jouw steun nodig. Elke donatie telt, groot of klein. Het zal een enorm verschil maken. Het geeft haar een kans op een toekomst als moeder van een prachtige dochter, en daarbij alle liefde die wij van haar mogen ontvangen als familie, vrienden en gemeenschap.

Gwenny's life turned upside down

Imagine one day you wake up and your whole life is turned upside down.

Hopefully this hasn't happened to you, but it did happen to Gwenny. On February 21, 2023 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, while holding her 6 months old daughter Z.

Medical examinations followed and with every step the diagnosis got worse. The worst possible outcome became reality; the cancer has spread throughout her entire body. Now she needs your help.

Gwenny's life

Gwenny is a familiar face in Zoetermeer and has always been involved in the local community.

You may know her from the C1000, her many years behind the counter, at Fitpoint or as the familiar face and voice on the phone of Chiropractic Zoetermeer. Two years ago Gwenny was asked to be on the candidate list for a local party in Zoetermeer, to which she immediately said: YES! Adamantly because she is always committed to helping other people. In her words: Change starts within yourself, a small change can have a big effect!

Gwenny's life has been, to say the least, challenging in the past couple of years. However, she remained to stand firmly with a postive attitude and determination in life. Especially when she had to welcome her daughter as a single mother.

She now faces the immense challenge of taking care of her daughter Z., while trying to focus on her health.

She is a single mother, Z. has no father. Grandpa and grandma are getting older and on top of that, grandma has also battled and conquered breast cancer.

This is going to be Gwenny’s toughest battle ever, which she has to win in order to take care of her daughter and see her grow up! Who else will take care of Z.?

Fundraiser

This fundraiser has been set up to support Gwenny in her fight against methastatic breast cancer, we hope it will finance a new treatment with a better perspective than the mere 2 to 5 years the oncologists gave this young mom as a prognosis!

Gwenny and her surroundings were all stunned: “From the moment I got the news,

a million thoughts went through my head. What about Z.? How do I tell my family, my friends, my colleagues, my former colleagues, my patients, my fellow party members!? But most of all: THIS IS NOT TRUE! I don't feel sick, I don't look sick. Yes, I'm tired, but I just had a beautiful daughter. How bad can it be?!"

Sadly this is a reality. The cancer has taken over her body. At the hospital they did not discuss or offer any treatment that would aim to cure Gwenny's cancer, the only option they offered was life-prolonging treatment. A treatment that would add two to five years..

TWO to FIVE years! A 36-year-old woman, in the prime of her life with a little girl on her lap. A little girl that she wants to raise herself, take to school herself and send of to high school herself. It should be Gwenny who will give Z. away at her wedding…

Gwenny turned her life around immediately to get stronger. Both mentally, emotionally and physically. Gwenny adjusted her diet, read stacks of books and medical

articles and had consultations with different practitioners, both conventional and alternative.

Hope brings life!

Now Gwenny has found a treatment that offers hope and hopefully a solution!

This treatment includes everything, the last push her body needs, it includes; the clinical part, the nutrition, supplements and mental support. Unfortunately this treatment is not covered by any Dutch health insurance.

It's too new, too experimental and too expensive for a single mom! It is promising and it is not yet offered by Dutch doctors, but it is offered in countries close to the Netherlands like Belgium.

Together we can ensure that she can undergo this treatment twice.

Giving her the best possible chance of survival and a future together with her daughter.

Gwenny always inspires others to keep going, to get stronger. Now we want to inspire her,
