Help Ash Rebuild His Life After Traumatic Brain Injury

Hello, my name is Ash, and I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my page. Sharing my story is not easy, but I hope it resonates with you, and if you feel moved to help, any contribution—no matter how small—would mean the world to me.

My Story

In September 2023, on my 42nd birthday, I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that drastically changed my life. After spending 9 days in a coma and 3 months in the hospital, I was left with muscle atrophy and had to relearn how to walk—a painful and gruelling process. You can see a glimpse of my recovery in this video.

Unfortunately, the challenges didn’t end there. I’ve been dealing with chronic pain due to an old rugby injury, which adds to the physical and emotional toll. While I’m actively participating in programs like the ADAPT Program to manage my pain, these commitments and ongoing treatments come with significant financial burdens.

My Current Situation

As of September 2024, I lost my job and am currently unemployed. Financial hardship has made it difficult to cover even basic necessities like groceries, let alone the medical bills for physiotherapy, psychological therapy, and other treatments.

The rising cost of living has compounded these challenges, making it hard to afford proper nutrition and transportation to my appointments. These hurdles are overwhelming, but I’m determined to keep moving forward and rebuild my life.

Why I’m Asking for Help

I’ve always prided myself on being self-reliant, but right now, I need your support. The funds raised will go toward:

Medical Bills: Physio, psychology sessions, the Pain program which is a 3 week Tuesday to Friday 9pm-3pm, so quite the commitment and other associated treatments.

Living Expenses: Nutritional food, groceries, and utilities and rent...

Transportation: Travel costs to and from the hospital and therapy sessions.

Rehabilitation Programs: Covering the cost of the weekly Physio and the ADAPT Program starting in late January 2025, which i have finished and was amazingly good, well worth the time and effort.

Your generosity will help me focus on recovery and building a stable foundation for my future.

A Note on Chronic Pain

Chronic pain isn’t just a physical struggle; it takes a toll on mental health too. If you or someone you know is dealing with chronic pain, please feel free to explore this resource that has been invaluable to me. Talking openly about pain and its impact can make a huge difference.

Your Impact

Every contribution, no matter how small, helps me take one step closer to regaining control of my life. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with others who might be willing to help would also mean so much to me.

Thank You

I am deeply grateful for your kindness, empathy, and support. Your help isn’t just financial; it’s a reminder that I’m not alone on this journey. Rest assured, every dollar you donate will be used responsibly to aid in my recovery and rebuild my independence.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Peace and love,
Ash
