Hello dog and animal lovers alike,
My name is Gus Gus. I'm a 7 year old French Bulldog living it up in our nation’s capital. I spend most of my time sitting, chewing bones, sitting, chasing squirrels, and, did I mention sitting? I love my Frenchie older brother Zeus and am regularly suffocated by my human parents who cater to my every demand and set up this page to help me beat cancer!!
In February 2019, I was diagnosed with Chemodectoma, which in dog terms is a small cancerous tumor that rests on my heart and makes it hard for me to play around. Before my diagnosis, I got real sick and my humans couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. I had to stay in the hospital for four days, which was ruff because I’ve never spent time in a crate. I had so much fluid in me, humans were mistaking me for a pot belly pig so they drained my heart and my belly three times!! Then, I had surgery to place a “window” in my heart to relieve the pressure. Because I’m so young and spry, I was able to go to the Leesburg Oncology Service and completed 18 consecutive radiation treatments (IMRT)!!
Unfortunately, as my parents were dealing with my heart issue, I started having some trouble breathing and started bleeding out of my nose. After several months of treatments and expensive tests, the docs confirmed that I had a completely different cancer tumor in my nose called an adenocarcinoma. Now, they are working to figure out what to do next.
All in all, my humans have dished out more than $25, 000 to fix me up so that I can achieve my mom’s dream of being the longest living French Bulldog in history!! So if there is anything you can give, I promise that when I meet you, I’ll wag my little nub tail and let you scratch my ears as much as you want. And if for some crazy reason I am unable to use your kind gift, my humans will donate the money to the National Canine Cancer Foundation so that other pups like me can fight back.
