RUN FOR YOU Chicago Marathon 2018

Never did I ever think I would be attempting to run a Marathon EVER! But I am signed up and currently training for the Chicago Marathon this Fall on October 7, 2018. So here I am, and wanted to make the 26.2 miles much more meaningful than being about me and my struggles to finish. So I decided to try to make it more about others struggling with real issues rather than a race around city streets. Especially after losing one of my dearest friends, who was an avid runner, to cancer at a young age a couple years ago.
So for a minimum donation of $20, I will write the name of someone you want me to run in honor of on my arm to be visible to everyone, especially me, during the Marathon. My hope is to run out of room on both arms with many people's names that can inspire me as I make my way around Chicago. It can be someone you love, lost, or is struggling. It's completely up to you. My daughter will be helping me find a semi-permanent way to write the names on my arm.
I will donate EVERY penny I raise to charity. I have chosen the American Cancer Society as my benefactor in memory of my family and friends who have or are battling and fighting the fight. It is a complex fight I see first hand every day in my job. To clear up any confusion, this campaign is not to raise funds for my entry into the Marathon. I was selected in the lottery and paid the entry fee myself at that time. This is strictly a campaign to raise money for a great cause. Upon completion of the marathon, I will personally be presenting a check to the Flint Office of the American Cancer Society and will follow up with a picture via email to all who make a donation. Please keep in mind the person I am running can be for any reason at all, it certainly doesn't have to be cancer related.
I personally will be donating the equivalent amount of the fee GoFundMe charges for the campaign to make sure every penny you donate will go to the American Cancer Society.
Before you submit your donation, I believe there is a comment box where you can list the person's name that you want me to run in honor of. I also think there is a box you can check where that information will only be visible to me. If for some reason you submit your donation prior to giving me the name, feel free to contact me via GoFundMe and indicate who it is.
