Mom and Dad Displaced by flooding

Donation protected
My parents are 83 and 72 years old and are retired. As of Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, they are also homeless. The flooding in Denham Springs, LA took everything. They were flooded into their neighborhood as of 9:00 a.m. on Friday, 8/12, but their home didn't start flooding until 11:00 am on Saturday, 8/13. At 5:00 pm on Saturday, they were rescued by "four of the nicest boys from New Roads" (according to  my mom). They didn't even get their names. Whoever you are, we are eternally grateful for what you did.

They were taken to a National Guard staging area where they were transported to a shelter.  Several hours later, the shelter flooded and they were evacuated again. On Sunday, after 24 hours in the same river-water-logged clothing, a friend happened upon them at the shelter and took them to her house, thank you, Miss Debby and Mr. Kenny, where they were able to shower and sleep in a bed. They stayed with Miss Debby and Mr. Kenny until my brother could get across the Amite River to pick them up on Monday.

When mom and dad evacuated, they left with the clothes on their backs. My sister and I have ordered some clothes online and friends have graciously offered to donate money and send care packages to help with their immediate needs.

We are asking for people to donate anything they can. We will have to find a new place for them to live, replace the entire contents of their house, their clothing, and their car. Any money raised will be used for this purpose.
