OFFICIAL Help Grandma Nguyen after Hate Attack

Dear Friends and Family,

 

While walking in Clinton Hill this afternoon, my mother was viciously attacked by an assailant while crossing the street. This mid-thirties male was walking alongside her and began beating her over the head multiple times out of nowhere. She was on one of her usual walks in the neighborhood when she was attacked. A nearby samaritan was able to help call the police and ultimately arrested  the attacker. He has been charged with assault, and this attack has been reported as a racial hate crime.

 

My mother has a black eye and overall soreness. She is at home resting and being cared for by my brother.

 

My brother and I wanted to start a gofundme to raise money for charity. This money would go to help in the fight against Asian hate. As you know, there have been many reports of rampant hate against Asians, especially the helpless, innocent elderly. We personally never thought this could happen to our mom. She is 5', 100lbs and couldn't hurt a fly. We are saddened but feel there is an opportunity to raise awareness and give back to those actively working to keep others like my mom safe from harm.

 

We are asking our friends and family, should they feel inclined to be proactive, to please donate to this campaign. My brother and I have yet to choose a charity but we will update you all upon our decision.
