Please help me save my boy

Ace has saved my life—probably more than once. Now, I need to save his.

Ace is my world. He’s a kind and energetic 5 year old lab with a big, chunky smile and a heart of gold. He’s the dog that sits by the door and waits for you to come home without a thought for himself the whole time you’re gone. He loves playing fetch, chomping on sticks, and playing with the neighborhood kids. He is my companion 24/7. He’s been my support through my own life-saving surgeries, through the pandemic, and other difficult periods. He’s also been my best friend—the good boy that loves to go on walks, swim in lakes, and watch movies with. Again, I genuinely believe he has saved my life—honestly more than once. Now, I need to save his.

A few months ago, Ace developed a fast-growing tumor about the side of a golf ball near his right axilla. The Vet cannot determine if it’s cancerous or not until she removes the tumor to biopsy it. Given its location and size, it easily has the capacity to press and injure on nerves, blood vessels, muscle, and potentially his lung if it’s deep enough— any of which can significantly impact his function. The tumor is clearly distressing to him as he is constantly scratching and licking at it in addition to being very protective of it.

I have been calling around town to different vet offices to give me an roughy quote on what surgery will cost, and the average quote is $1600-2000. Asking for help—especially money—is very hard for me, but I cannot afford his surgery on my own. I live check to check on disability due to severe Crohn’s Disease. I am saving money as I can to pay toward his surgery, but it will be far too long a wait for me to pay it one my phone, and I’m afraid by then it could be too late.
