Help For Alfies Rare Brain Tumour Treatment

Donation protected

Thank you for reading about my little Alfie, truly appreciated ❤

Hi I'm Sam and above is my little guy Alfie who has recently been diagnosed with a very rare brain tumour and given only a few months to live unless he is able to have pioneering radiation therapy. I am completely and utterly heartbroken. He is my world! He’s the sweetest, most gentle little dog, a real character. Everyone who meets him falls in love and thinks he is wonderful. He‘s only just turned 6 so lots of life to live but this horrid and cruel disease is about to rob him of life. So if you can help him get the urgent treatment he so desperately needs it would be incredible!

I've always had Alfie insured but alas over the past eighteen month this has been totally wiped out several times by the various test, medications and consultations fees he has needed. With a heavy heart i'm turning to GoFundMe and the kindness of strangers to help me raise as much as possible towards paying for his treatment needs.

His tumour diagnosis came as a real blow as until very recently the continuous diagnosis was allergies. March last year during lock down Alfie began rubbing his face. It was difficult to get a vet visit during this time but eventually he saw a vet and they diagnosed him with allergies plus dry eye syndrome. Over the course of several weeks into months Alfie was given various medicated treatments to try alleviating his allergies but nothing really helped his head rubbing. It was distressing to see him in such discomfort.

I pushed for further investigations and over the following months he had 3 thyroid test all of which came back inconclusive, however the vet continued to lean towards allergies. Alfie then began losing muscle around one side of his head and face.

To cut a very long story short, the vets were unable to diagnose Alfie’s actual condition and the reason behind his head and face atrophy, so they reached out to other vets for help. The response was, ‘he needs an MRI asap’!

We now know Alfie has an extremely rare brain tumour called a 'trigeminal nerve sheath tumor'. It was undetected for many months and so it is imperative he gets the specialist radiation treatment he so desperately needs. Sadly it cannot be operated on due to its position within Alfie's brain, far too risky, so his only hope of survival is radiotherapy and the only place and the most advanced in the UK is the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) Veterinary School some 460 miles away. I am due to take Alfie there in a  couple of weeks time. Treatment will last many weeks and it is going to cost many thousands but i am determined Alfie will get the care he so desperately needs and all the chance in the world to fight this!

Through loans and some savings i've managed to raise some but not all of what is needed, so any donations however small would be absolutely wonderful and deeply appreciated, I  would be truly gratefully!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my little Alfie’s cancer fight.
