In May 2009, my family and I visited my childhood church, Content Church of God in the Parish of Clarendon in Jamaica, located three miles from Rock River. At my childhood church, we gave treats to the children of the community, naming the visit “Kids treat“. This continued for three years until I realized this was in fact the beginning of a mission. John 15 vs 16 “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit.”
“Kids treat” was no longer a suitable name for the work that we were doing for the past three years because we were not only giving to the children but we were also giving to the parents of those children and other adults in the community. One night while getting ready for bed I heard a voice that said God’s Love and the name stuck with me. I presented the name to my family and friends of the Mission and we collectively decided that it was an appropriate name for the mission.
God’s Love Mission has completed seven missions since 2009. We’ve visited several churches and infirmaries in the parishes of St Elizabeth, Portland, St. Catherine, St Thomas and Clarendon. We’ve donated adult diaper, gloves, groceries, school supplies, toiletries, clothes and monetary scholarships. On every mission we’ve provided hot meals, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
God’s Love Mission is proud to be the sponsor of Domonique Brown. Dominique is a 9 year old boy diagnosed with Spinal Bifida. So far God’s Love Mission has donated monetary gifts, clothes, grocery, diapers, wipes, a wheel chair and school supplies to Dominique Brown. God love Mission is also the proud sponsored of Port more Gospel Chapel Vacation Bible school.
As the founder of God’s Love Mission I vow to continue to spread the love of God throughout the 14 Parishes of Jamaica.
