Sadiqua's Memorial and Medical

Greetings, my name is Theresa Bass, my daughter Sadiqua Shawntia Bass passed away on March 11, 2015. She has two beautiful children, Nautica Simone, age 10 and Xzavier Shymear, age 7. Sadiqua had been ill since the age of nine due to sickle cell and type 1 diabetes that lead to end stage renal failure disease which caused her to depend on dialysis treatment three times a week. But I am proud to say, that young Nautica was a wizard at helping me take care of her mother!

On the evening of February 5, 2016 Sadiqua had a seizure while in the car with me and eventually coded at the hospital. The medical staff at Duke Regional Hospital and Specialty Select Long Care Health Services did a wonderful job to ensure that my daughter receive the best medical care for a valuable life. With great peace and understanding, Sadiqua passed away due to her long term health issues.

Because of Sadiqua’s preexisting health issues, I was not able to obtain life insurance after leaving my job in Houston, Texas to return to North Carolina to become the primary caregiver for my daughter and grandchildren.  Although I have been a valuable citizen in society and has worked since I was 16 years of age, medical expenses and monthly bills has been way more than I have ever earned. 

 Therefore, I am in need of donations to help pay for memorial services and remaining medical expenses. Any funds left will be used for Sadiqua’s children future needs and medical expenses, especially since Xzavier suffers from sickle cell which has caused the family to endure additional medical expenses. Funds are urgently needed, because the bills are mounting quickly which has caused an over whelming amount of stress. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
