Hello! I'm Roni, I'm owner-operator of Dark Horse Therapeutics, PLLC.

Dark Horse was started in 2020 as my private practice. I'm a licensed bilingual (ASL-English) speech language pathologist serving individuals with a variety of speech, language, and communication needs. I'm also a horse person. I've carried certification from PATH Intl. since 2019 as a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. I love to blend my professions to serve clients in the most fun setting: at the barn!

This year, Dark Horse is striking out on our own! After working for half a dozen therapeutic riding facilities over the years, I've developed a strong sense of best practice and ethics in the equine-assisted therapy world. We have an amazing opportunity to set up shop at Blue Rock Farm in West Chester, PA. This beautiful facility offers an indoor arena, breathtaking trail riding along the Brandywine River, and of course, amazing equine partners.

What makes Dark Horse Therapeutics special?

First and foremost: ethical partnership with equines. The mental and physical wellbeing of the horses participating in my program is paramount. The horses in my care are happy; no compromises.

Secondly: as a bilingual provider (ASL-English), the truth is that there is just not very many instructors out there able to serve the population I can. I have yet to meet another ASL-fluent riding instructor who provides direct service to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. As a speech-language pathologist, I'm skilled to provide access to riding and horsemanship to individuals with a variety of communication needs ranging to severe and complex. Some of the individuals I serve are Deaf, DeafBlind, Autistic, ADHD, learning disabled, physically disabled, and more. These riders deserve excellent instruction and access to horses too!

This fundraiser is primarily to support my tiny, small business covering the not-so-tiny cost of a robust insurance policy to protect my riders. Funds will also be used to purchase equipment and produce educational material for my volunteers.
