Go Fin Me!

A silent tumor on Fin's intestine had ruptured. Without emergency surgery, he would die. They gave him a 50% chance of surviving the operation. Twice, his heart almost stopped on the operating table. But he came back to us.

The surgeons removed the tumor, repaired his intestine, and saved his life. But when the tumor ruptured, it scattered cancer cells throughout his abdominal cavity, which means the cancer will return.

But there is good news. Fin's cancer, known as GIST, is considered a “good” cancer, and is treatable. There is a chemo drug, Palladia, that targets GIST precisely. But for it to be effective, we need to act fast. And for that, we need your help.

To pay for Fin's emergency surgery, we cashed out stocks and savings, a family member and a friend generously offered help, and we took out emergency credit card debt to cover the rest.

We have run out of financial resources, but will never run out of love for this dog. And so we are asking for your help to keep Fin alive.

Fin's oncologist hopes that six months of Palladia will wipe out new cancer seeded by the tumor that ruptured. Here is the estimate for Fin's plan of care:

Palladia @ $520/ month x 6 months = $3120
Monthly office visits @ $205 x 6 mo = $1230
Chest x-ray & abdominal ultrasound to monitor
for new tumors/metastasis @ $1450 x 2 = $2900
Monthly bloodwork @ $280 x 6 = $1680
Monthly urinalysis @ $150 x 6 = $900

Total = $9,830
