The intention of this gofundme;
Was to raise money toward giving our kids a safe and stable home. Give us a real chance to start our lives over somewhere else.
We have started our lives fresh somewhere else, but I am keeping this fundraiser up because his injury is getting worse and I need just a little more help to get him the medical attention workers comp is not getting him.
Our background;
My husband, Dave was injured on the job, the same job he has worked for 16 years.
We have been fighting with workers comp for a long time now. We are not receiving any help through them and have been paying out of pocket for his pain treatments. Not to mention using up our savings to accommodate for this employer cutting his hours as a result of getting the incident report of the injury.
The injury is to his lower spine, (L3, L4 and L5)
We had to get a lawyer to deal with the negotiations with the employer, and workers comp. It was and still is a constant battle to get any kind of benefits.
The main owner of his job passed away so the next of kin have since taken over. They didn't want to bother and hired a management company to handle it. After assuring us that no one was going to be put out or fired.
The management company came in and immediately started changing everything we were told would not change.
Dave's lawyer reached out to the management to work out reasonable accommodations as there were valid doctor's orders on file.
The management's response was to completely stop paying Dave, but not fire him.
And for the last several months he has not been paid.
I have effectively become a mother of two with a disabled husband trying to make ends meet. We are hoping either surgery or physical therapy is coming soon.
We are still selling things we can live without and crowd funding to raise money to get the things we actually need to continue on the right path of our fresh start.
