My name is Charles Bennett, Class of 1973, San Marcos Academy, San Marcos, Texas.
On June 1st, 2025, Glenda Willis lost her beloved son Christopher at 41 years old. For his entire life, Glenda was his mother, caregiver, nurse, and advocate, pouring all of her time, energy, and love into making sure he had the best life possible. Glenda formed a group of Disabled Children to PASS the Americans with Disability Act and the Patient Bill of Rights during the Regan and George Bush presidencies. She pushed the Bill to the Supreme Court, and it was passed.

Glenda’s story of perseverance started long before motherhood. She attended San Marcos Academy, beginning in the 4th grade and graduating in the Class of ’73. Even then, she faced challenges head-on, completing her studies while being tutored in her dorm room due to health concerns. That resilience carried into adulthood, where she devoted herself fully to Christopher’s care for more than four decades.

Now, only weeks after his passing, Glenda is facing her own battle. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and congestive heart failure. She has already undergone two heart procedures and begins chemotherapy this week. At 70 years old, she is a veteran living alone, with no family support left.

Christopher’s passing also brought financial devastation. For years, Glenda served as his full-time case manager, and when that income stopped, she was left with only her Social Security, less than $800 a month. The VA has informed her that her retirement benefits may take up to two years to process. In the meantime, her expenses continue while she fights for her health.

Glenda has always put others before herself. From caring for Christopher 16 hours a day to battling through her own health setbacks, she has carried more than her share. Now she needs help.

We are asking for any donation, no matter the size, to help Glenda cover her basic living expenses, housing, groceries, and medical costs, while she undergoes treatment and recovery.

Thank you for showing kindness and compassion in Glenda’s time of need. God bless you for your kindness.
