"Let's save Betiño's life"

Hi, my name is José Miguel, and I am leading a fundraising campaign for the leukemia treatment of my nephew, Carlos Alberto Tudela Durán, whom we lovingly call "Betiño." At just 3 years old, he is already facing a tough battle for his life against this complicated disease.

Betiño's childhood, which should be filled with games, joys, and adventures appropriate for his age, is overshadowed by his treatment, pulling him away from normality. Much of his time will be spent alternating between his home and the hospital, enduring pain and showing remarkable resilience.

His parents, Marco and Alejandra, have been making countless sacrifices to ensure he receives the best possible treatment. However, their financial situation is very precarious, and despite their efforts, they have not secured the necessary financial support from specialized institutions, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and others, to cover the treatment costs. Given the urgency of the situation and despite the lack of resources, the family has made the difficult decision to continue treatment at a private hospital. Today, May 28, 2024, he began his first chemotherapy session.

I am sure we have all faced difficult moments in our lives when both known and unknown people helped us selflessly, motivated by their genuine Love for Others. This is a divine opportunity to follow their example.

La infancia de Betiño, que debería estar llena de juegos, alegrías y aventuras propias de su edad, se ve oscurecida por su tratamiento, alejándolo de la normalidad. Gran parte de su tiempo lo pasará alternando entre su hogar y el hospital, enfrentando dolor y mostrando su capacidad de resiliencia.

Sus padres, Marco y Alejandra, han estado haciendo incontables sacrificios para asegurarle el mejor tratamiento posible. Sin embargo, su situación económica es muy precaria y, a pesar de los esfuerzos, no han conseguido el apoyo financiero necesario de instituciones especializadas, incluyendo St. Jude Children's Research Hospital y otras, para cubrir los costos de su tratamiento. Ante la urgencia de la situación y a pesar de la falta de recursos, la familia ha tomado la difícil decisión de continuar el tratamiento en un hospital privado. Hoy, 28 de mayo de 2024, inició su primera sesión de quimioterapia.

Estoy seguro de que todos hemos enfrentado momentos difíciles en nuestras vidas, cuando personas conocidas y desconocidas nos brindaron su ayuda, sin esperar nada a cambio y motivados por su auténtico Amor al Prójimo. Esta es una oportunidad divina para seguir su ejemplo.
