Our First Goal Is Becoming a Reality. Now We’re Building What Comes Next.

When Union des Jeunes launched this campaign, our goal was to help students in Torbeck, Haiti begin the school year with the basic supplies they needed to succeed.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, that goal is becoming a reality.

Together, we have purchased 120+ backpacks, 350 notebooks, 250 pens, 330 pencils, 100+ erasers, 100 pencil sharpeners, geometry sets, and additional school supplies to complete student kits.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared our campaign, and helped make this possible. Your support turned an idea into something real; supplies that will soon be placed directly into students' hands.

But a student's need for opportunity doesn't end after the first day of school.

Our next step is to launch Skills for the Future, a pilot program designed to give young people in Torbeck access to practical skills they can use in school, in the workplace, and in their everyday lives.

Beginning with a small pilot group, the program will focus on three areas:

English & Communication

Participants will strengthen practical English skills that can support their education, communication, and access to future opportunities.

Digital Skills

Participants will receive hands-on computer training, including internet and email use, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, online research, and résumé development.

Baking & Entrepreneurship

Our first skills-to-income workshop will focus on baking. Participants will learn practical baking skills while also learning how to calculate costs, set prices, package and market products, manage basic finances, and understand how a skill can potentially become a source of income.

We don't want participants to simply attend a workshop and receive a certificate. We want them to leave knowing how to do something they couldn't do before.

Future donations to this campaign will help us purchase laptops, provide internet and electricity for the training space, obtain educational and baking materials, support instructors, and cover the resources needed to operate the program.

We plan to start small, measure the results, learn from the first group, and build from there.

From School Supplies to Opportunity

The first phase was about helping students start prepared. The next phase is about helping young people keep learning, develop practical skills, and discover new possibilities for their future.

As we move forward, we will continue sharing photos, program updates, expenses, and results so our supporters can see where their contributions are going and what they are helping accomplish.

The backpacks helped them start. Now let's give them the skills to move forward.
