It has been three years since Will’s story was first shared on Indiegogo.  With the launch of his GoFundMe page, this is the perfect opportunity to update you, his trusty allies and friends, on his ongoing health issues and financial situation.  Simply put, Will remains in desperate need of support if he is to continue living in his home.
 
Will’s ongoing battle with Addison’s disease has proven to be his Achilles heel.  He still struggles with an array of neurological disorders but his dependence on cortisone has taken a disastrous toll on his skeletal system, leading to hip fractures and multiple cracks from the top to bottom of his spine, all of which render him wheelchair-bound.  He has also lost the use of his thumbs.  Unfortunately, remedial surgery is off the table because his reliance on steroids precludes the use of anesthesia.  His medical team has decided the best way to control his pain, which is constant and severe, is to install a pain pump that will allow them to administer strong narcotics directly into his spine and bypass vital organs. 
 
Will has also been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) which is less common than Basal Cell, his previous diagnosis.  He recently endured a long and exhausting procedure without anesthesia to cut out more tissue from his lower left leg.  His doctor stressed the importance of removing the tissue because Will’s health problems put him at a particularly high risk of the cancer spreading to other parts of the body.  Will recently had a cancerous lump removed from his breast only to find two new lumps in the same area. 
 
Still, despite the ravages of disease, Will continues to beat the odds with his indomitable spirit and stubborn “Will ” to not just survive – but to thrive.  Your support and encouragement provide the centrifugal force that keeps him going.  Please check back here for updates on Will’s condition “post-pain pump”.  Needless to say, his primary financial concern is paying the rent and other out-of-pocket health expenses.  Above all else, know that your friendship, so warmly received by Will through calls, visits and messages, means every bit as much to Will as your financial support.

Working with skilled legal counsel, we have established a special needs trust where all contributions will be deposited and disbursed by trustees. Will’s interests are fully protected, with no tax obligations or administrative costs. Upon his death, any remaining funds will go to a charity of Will’s choice – or a foundation he may decide to set up to help advance the battle against neurological diseases.
