Gina's Battle with Ovarian Cancer!

Donation protected
Hey Everyone,

Gina was diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian Cancer in February of 2016. Gina underwent extensive treatment and surgery, including a full hysterectomy, and two full rounds of chemotherapy. She continued to fight and took it like a champ. She finally beat Cancer but was not in remission a full year when she began going to the hospital for severe pain and nausea. As Gina began what seemed like weekly visits to the ER, the doctors noticed her Cancer marker in her blood work going up.

Gina followed up with her doctors and they did testing and confirmed that her Cancer had returned. She was re-diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and because she had a full hysterectomy, the Cancer cells attached to her bowl lining and her stomach lining.

Not a year later and Gina is looking at another battle with Cancer all over again. This is devastating news for anyone who knows and loves Gina.

Gina began chemo again on October 13, 2017. The chemotherapy is called Carboplatin and Doxil and she went every 4 weeks for 6 months. In May after she completed the treatment she was put on a chemo pill, which is meant to kill any leftover cancer cells and put her into remission (a maintenance medication). Unfortunately, the chemo pill did not work. Gina's body did not respond to the maintenance medications and the cancer came back before her body could enter remission.

Gina's doctors decided that chemo would be the best approach. There was also an upcoming trial and they were hoping she could do that as well. However, because the cancer cells were so rapidly multiplying, the cancer spread again, this time from her pelvic region back to her bowl again. On Friday, August 24th, Dr. Morgan told Gina she would have to forgo the trial and get back on Chemotherapy as soon as possible. Gina is due to start chemo AGAIN on Friday, August 31st.

Unfortunately, Gina was in an out of the hospital again due to severe pain and vomiting so her Dr. ordered a CAT scan of her brain. He said that often uncontrollable vomiting can be a result of brain cancer. As a result of the scan they realized Gina has 5 tumors on her brain. The Doctors couldn’t believe she was even functioning sue to their placement. As a result of these findings, treatment has been on hold until she gets brain surgery to remove the tumors on Sept 21st.

Gina has two beautiful boys, Tommy who is 11 and Cole who is 3, and a loving husband Tom. Gina had no idea that anything was wrong until she went to the hospital with pain a couple months before she was diagnosed in 2016. It was at this time where they found a tumor on each ovary. The doctors determined they were cancerous and that is where her battle began.

Gina has always been a productive member of society, but most importantly she is a loving and loyal person to her family and friends. She is an amazing daughter, friend, niece, employee, aunt, granddaughter, sister, wife, mother, and the list goes on. She is important and loved by many and we are so grateful to be able to love and support her through this difficult time in her life.

Gina has missed a lot of work during this time. Since she was diagnosed she has only been able to work part-time and she has been missing work due to her sickness.  She has been in and out of the hospital throughout the last year and with chemotherapy she will need financial and moral support. Her husband Tom has also missed a great deal of work in an effort to be by his wife's side during this time.

Anything you can donate will be useful in helping Gina and her family with the loss of income and doctors’ bills. We are hoping for the best but in the meantime, we will need to support her in any way we can!

Thank you for all those who have supported her and her family on this journey. Let's continue to be as supportive as we possibly can.
