Hello!
I’m raising funds to get me to the Toastmasters World Championships of Public Speaking competition in August. I'm passionate and determined to become the first openly LGBT person - and only the 5th woman - to win the coveted title in all of Toastmasters 92 year history!
The eight month long competition began in January with 132,000 competitors from 135 countries. It’s now down to the Top 98 speakers (including yours truly) who will compete in the Semi-Finals on Thursday, August 18, in Washington DC. The 10 semi-final winners will compete for the World Championship title on Saturday, August 20.
The beginning goal of $1,000 will cover my expenses, and the stretch goal of $3,000 will allow me to bring along the two documentary filmmakers I'm working with.
As thank you for your support, allow me to give you a small gift of appreciation:
· $25 – receive a ‘be authentacious’ magnet
· $50 – receive a ‘be authentacious’ t-shirt or journal
· $100 – receive a one-hour speech coach or life coach session by phone
Here’s a snippet of a recent speech of mine -
I created the ‘be authentacious’ campaign because I know that to be who you truly are in this this world, you have to fight for it. ‘be authentacious’ is about you being your best unique self - the best friend, competitor, partner, parent, colleague, and best person you can be…. It’s about you living true to yourself in a world accustomed to conformity… it’s about overcoming obstacles and understanding that what seems impossible is actually attainable and within your grasp.
