Sean's Mobility Ability

Sean Cochran was born 28 weeks into a 40 week pregnancy! He weighed under 2 lbs. and was not expected to live through his first night. Since that time, he has never stopped surprising people with his determination and amazing personality. Sean has lived with the consequences of his preterm birth for 30 years. He is primarily bed-bound. His power wheelchair has gone mostly unused because his family has never had easy, effective transportation for Sean and his wheelchair. For a young man as bright, kind, and funny as Sean to be confined to home is truly sad. When Sean’s Dad died three years ago his world became even smaller. His Dad was his primary caregiver, and the best buddy Sean ever had. The hole that was left in the family was huge. The hole that was left in Sean’s life has been impossible to fill. Sean has endured countless surgeries and life-threatening situations, and yet, he has always remained upbeat and loving.
Sean deserves to be out and about interacting with a world he finds infinitely fascinating. Although Sean’s body has limited function, his mind is quick and agile. He constantly comes up with facts and information that sends his mom to search Google just to keep up with her brilliant son. His beloved sisters have each taken turns acting as his caregiver. Sean thanks them profusely and is always grateful for even the smallest bit of help. He never asks for anything and has never felt sorry for himself. He NEVER complains. He always has a compliment for those around him. He revels in other’s successes and accomplishments. He is everyone’s cheerleader.
One year ago, Sean was given graciously given an old wheelchair van. He was thrilled! He had always dreamed of having his very own transportation. The Chevy 1995 VanDura Van could be the answer to his prayers but it needs a lot of work. Sean mom has struggled to find help in getting, and keeping, the van up and running. Just getting new tires put the one-income family in a tight spot. Sean and his mom have been fearful to take him out in the older vehicle, in the event of a breakdown, the two of them have few resources to rely on. Being stranded weighs heavily on them.
This fund is being set up for Sean to assist this young man in experiencing freedom like he has never known. The freedom to travel wherever and whenever he wants.
A lot of people and organizations ask you for help. Sean has never asked for a thing. You will not find a more grateful recipient.
Thank you!
