Friends, family, and colleagues,

As a junior high school teacher, it is very hard to sometimes keep in touch with former students. The students are with us for 2 short years. They come to us during a difficult and confusing time in their lives. They are growing, maturing, and learning. Soon after, they leave for high school and we don’t get to see how our students end up. We don’t see who they have become.  I have been blessed to stay in close touch with a handful of my former students, and one that definitely stands out is Miss Heaven Miller!!!

Heaven recently graduated from high school, against some pretty remarkable odds. Raised by a single mom, Heaven has been an exceptional role model to her 3 younger siblings. She has made school a priority, excelling academically and by serving her high school by being part of ASB.

Heaven’s has an infectious smile, incredible optimism, mature demeanor, and an amazing fun personality.  Since she was a young kid, Heaven always managed to win over the hearts of her teachers, peers and church family. I am proud to personally be a witness to the mature, driven young woman Heaven has become. She is passionate about pursuing her education, becoming a professional, and reaching her goals. In the spring, she was accepted to a Simpson University, a private school in Northern California. This is where we need your help!!!

Since Heaven found out she was accepted to Simpson University she became full of excitement but at the same time she became filled with WORRY and FEAR.  Wondering.. “How am I going to pay for this?”  “Can I actually do this??” Which my response to her has always been “We’ll figure it out!!” and “You’re darn right you can!!!”

Heaven will be the first person in her family to attend college. As many of you reading this can relate, being the first person from your family to go to college can be overwhelming and just plain SCARY.

There are many people are rooting for Heaven, and she has worked EXTREMELY hard to get to where she’s at. She has all the love and support she needs to succeed, but she also needs  help financially.

She was able to cover part of her tuition through financial aid, scholarships, and a student loans and in the fall, she will be seeking a  "work-study" position to help pay her way through. However, she still needs financial support to help cover her first year expenses. She is currently faced with an upcoming payment deadline.

I am reaching out to ask you to join me in providing the financial support she needs so that she can put aside some of the stress and shift her focus on her studies.
 
Heaven is one amazing young lady and I would hate to have her stress about her finances during what should be an exciting life changing experience.

Your support will ensure that she is able to focus on school and continue on the path to reach her goals.  If you are not able to help her financially I would kindly ask that you share this post and that you include her in your prayers.

I have been in contact with Heaven’s admissions counselor and I will continue to help Heaven to make sure that the funds that you so selflessly donate are appropriately directed to tuition and essential school-related expenses only. If there are additional donations we will make sure they are applied towards Heaven’s sophomore year.
