Asking for help is not an easy thing to do. Whether you’ve known me for a month, a decade or my entire life, asking for help has never been a thing that I’ve done well, if at all. So please bear with me while I work my way through this.
If you know me you undoubtedly know Gunner, my seven year old American Foxhound/Lab mix, which I consistently proclaim is the best dog ever. For those of you who haven’t had the privilege of meeting Gunner, I’m sorry. I know all owners say this, but he is one of the most gentle, compassionate, loving and supportive dogs that you’ve ever met- on top of all that he has a smile that lights up any room he’s in. He’s a pillar of strength and a constant comfort for Sarah as I’m currently deployed.
Gunner was admitted to Angell Animal Medical Center’s Emergency room on Monday and was promptly hospitalized. He has since gone through a myriad of medical tests all of which during he’s kept an amazing spirit and love for those treating him. He’s in excellent health in every aspect other than the ailment that’s bringing him to be hospitalized; fluid building in his abdomen and chest from an unknown source. It does not contain any bacteria which is good, but at the same time is not responding to the broad spectrum of antibiotics he is receiving and is currently threatening his life.
The money that I’m asking to be donated is going completely to Gunner’s medical care. I have maxed myself financially through the first four days of procedures and medical treatment. It doesn’t matter if it’s .25 cents, $2.00 or $25 dollars, every penny raised will be put towards his immediate medical cost and speedy recovery. I’m not asking for a hand out or pity, rather, assistance in our time of need. If we happen to raise more than his medical expenses or by some miracle he doesn’t need further medical treatment, all funds will be donated to the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, Massachusetts- the shelter he was adopted from in 2012.
Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and most importantly, time, during our time of need.
