Dear Friends,
I am raising funds to attend a month-long artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center, the largest international artists' and writers' residency program in the US, situated along the banks of the Gihon River in the historic village of Johnson, Vermont.
As a Vermont Studio Center (VSC) artist in residence I will receive:
- 24-hour access to a private studio space
- A private room in shared housing
- 3 communal meals per day
- Opportunities to meet other artists
Going to VSC will allow me to work on my most ambitious body of work to date, titled TLRQVALL (Tiende La Ropa Que Va a Llover) —an ongoing series that investigates the experiences of the immigrant diaspora and how these experiences inform relationships to place, objects and home.

This is an incredible opportunity to focus on making art work without the distractions of day-to-day living in the hustle and bustle of NYC. I am beyond words with excitement. Of course, all of this comes at a cost. The entire program costs $3,950. I've already been awarded an artist grant from VSC totaling $1,050, $600 in work study and I've already paid $300 to hold my spot.
The $2500 I'm raising will cover the rest of the program costs ($2,000) plus $500 to cover roundtrip transport, materials and delivery costs.
I feel incredibly lucky to be able to pursue a life filled with what brings me the most joy and I am humbled in asking for your support.
Thank you for considering.
Yours,
Dexter Ciprian
