Hi, I am Richard Spencer. The photos you see in this fundraiser are that of my husband Chris. I really need your help to get him home. Here's what happened..
Chris and I had planned a holiday to celebrate our 20 years together. Bali was the first destination of a few weeks away. Early on the morning of the 10th April, Chris went out to buy me flowers. This is how Chris is, he always buys me things when we have big dates to celebrates.
On that morning, he got knocked down by a motorcycle. His face is badly damaged. He has fractures to his orbital bones, his maxillae and septum and the cartilage around his thyroid is all smashed up and pierced his windpipe.
Chris was taken by air ambulance to Bangkok. The first operation was done here on 14 April and the surgeons repaired everything except his septum, which they said could be repaired when he gets home. Chris is intubated to protect his airways and help his windpipe heal. But it means he is not able to speak and that and the sedation is distressing for him
Chris was due to be medically repatriated just after Easter but the insurance company have now withdrawn cover because we were unable to demonstrate this was an accident and have left us in Bangkok with medical bills over £60,000. On top of that I need to get Chris home.
I really need to get him home soon. He has now been sedated for three weeks, which the anaesthetist says is concerning. He is developing pneumonia, which the doctors keep medicating for but comes back. He has osteomyelitis - there is an infection in one or more of his fractures. He is also restrained - the nurses tie him up by his arms ms legs and sometimes flatten him to the bed with a canvas tie down sheet. This is inhuman treatment.
Guys I am desperate to get him home. I feel so ashamed begging for money like this but I have nowhere else to go.
Thank you you from the bottom of my heart, Richard (and Chris) XX
