Gift of Hearing - Mission to Yamasá

Through the Gift of Hearing Foundation I have the opportunity to visit Yamasá, Dominican Republic this April. 

Because of the lack of hearing health education in this region there is a huge prevalence of chronic ear infections and loud noise exposure. This has caused a high incidence of hearing loss, which for most has gone untreated. When in Yamasa, we will be testing, treating and managing hearing loss for over 100 patients. 

Hearing loss leads to a disconnection from those we love and in turn can lead to depression, isolation, difficulties learning and dementia. 

I have hearing loss myself and know firsthand the struggles that it can bring. I am incredibly excited at the opportunity to help those in need!

I, however, need your help to get there! The Gift of Hearing Foundation will be supplying all of the equipment and hearing aids, but I will need to pay for my flights and accommodations.

My goal of $2,500 will help get me there to help over 100 people with the Gift of Hearing

with $2,865 ( additional $365) we will also be able to feed a needy family with food for a year.

with $3,490 ($625 more) we will purchase and bring a humanitarian medical kit from HPIC . Supplying basic and essential medicines for the region.

with $4,490 (additional $1,000) we will help to pay for a team of local doctors to visit, aid and treat 7 neighbouring regions (Batey’s and Barrio’s) with Canadian medicine.
