For the past 12 years, I have been living with a rare, aggressive tumor that has deeply affected my life. After years of being denied treatment by several surgeons, I was finally referred to Dr. DZ at UF Shands, a specialist whose expertise and compassion have given me hope for a brighter future. While my surgery is thankfully covered by insurance, the cost of replacing my teeth during the surgery is not, and it is a significant financial burden.

According to federal law under the ACA, teeth are not considered essential to life and therefore are not covered. How much are your teeth and smile worth to you?

Living with this tumor has meant facing not only health challenges but also the emotional toll of facial deformation, questioning looks, and the struggle to maintain my confidence. The tumor has threatened my ability to chew, swallow, speak, and even sleep comfortably. As someone who trains others for a living, my career and ability to provide for myself and my family are directly impacted by these health issues. I have done my best to remain strong and positive, but I know that with your support, I can finally move forward and begin a new chapter in my life.
