G'ericka's Grace support

Hello & thank you for stopping by and helping me raise funds for my daughter G’ Ericka.  She also goes by the nick name GiGi.

GiGi suffers from CP (Cerbral Palsy) a disorder that was developed at birth. Doctors stated that G’ Ericka would probably have a short life expectancy, however,  GiGi is a living testament that any and everything is POSSIBLE. My BABY GiGi is now 22 years old and a high school graduate. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!!

I am currently running a couple fundraisers on behalf of GiGi, to raise enough money to make the necessary modifications to our current home, to be more accessibly friendly. Modifications include: The hallways and doorways don’t allow a wheelchair to move around the house smoothly. Her bathroom is a has a standard bath tub, and she requires a custom bath chair and lift to be sure proper grooming needs are met.

Please feel free to donate what you feel in your heart to give. If it’s a dollar, we will take it. Any amount, small or large all adds up and can help us reach our goal of getting these modifications in our home.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Hi again!

I'm G’ericka Winston, but my friends and family call me GiGi. I was born at 30 weeks weighing 3lbs 3oz. When I was in my mom’s belly, the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck and I lost oxygen. When I was finally delivered the doctors had to resuscitate me, but by the grace of God I’m here. The loss of oxygen resulted in me having cerebral palsy as well as a seizure disorder.  My mom was never told about the birth injury program for me, and that the hospital where I was born participated in that program. When my mom found out what really happened during my birth (initially she was told that I was just a premiee and I would be fine) , she attempted to seek justice for me, but the records and fetal monitor strips were withheld. My mom was told they didn’t have the strips and other information, but when I turned 16, (after the age in which the statute of limitations expired), then we were given all of my fetal monitor strips, and the documentation that my mom would have needed to seek justice and support for me.

I am the third of 4 children born to a single mother. I love my family and I know they love me, but they have struggled so much to provide for me during my life. My mother had a very hard time getting me all of the therapy and additional resources I needed. With the insurance we had, I was only given access to a small amount of therapy each year, and because of this, I now have upper and lower contractures throughout my entire body. I have had several surgeries for my hips, legs, and g-tube concerns. So far I have had a very full life, and I want it to continue to be full love and laughter.

My 22nd birthday has passed and I just graduated from Manchester High School a few days ago. Some of my friends are moving into group homes and assisted living places now that we have graduated, but the one thing I really want is to remain home with the people who have loved me and been there for me my whole life, and to do that I need a home that is accessible enough for me. In our house right now, my mom and brothers have to lift me everywhere, and as I grow it’s getting harder and harder to do some of the simple things that so many people take for granted like take a bath and get in and out of the house, not to mention having the space for all of my equipment.  I do have a wheelchair that was made for me, but the doorways in our home aren’t wide enough for me to ride through them. I dream of a disability accessible home so that I can ride around from room to room and it is easier for my family to continue to provide care for me. Thank you for helping me through my next journey in life.
