Youtube video description at end of paragraph:

My name is Georjean Morado and I'm advocating for myself as I navigate disability and medical leave in a system that is not just.

On August 9th, I went to a Soul Cycle class and left with difficulty walking. Three days later, I was in the ER, admitted for 8 days, and was diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis. I was required to have emergency Compartment syndrome surgery, which has left me with an open wound and required follow-ups. I have great insurance; however, I am required to have weekly follow-up appointments, medicines, physical therapy, 2x weekly wound changes, and more than likely another surgery to close my wound. I have acquired medical bills on top of my normal bills.

Unfortunately, my job has informed me that because I am a state employee of a California State University, I am not eligible for disability nor am I eligible for my employer to dip into their funds to use PAID leave in my role. I am required to use my accrued sick, holiday, vacation, and personal time off to collect SOME form of paid leave; however, I'm only a year into my job and I do not have enough funds to cover my 2-month minimum leave.

I don't usually ask for help like this, but I cannot afford to lose my apartment, fall behind in regular AND medical bills, and feed my two cats. I can only afford so much, and this is my literal nightmare coming true.
Any help is appreciated. I know times are tough, so thank you in advance. If this is your first time hearing of my medical stuff, I'm just a text away!

XO,
Georjean, Dash, and Tiger

YouTube Description: On August 9th, 2024, Georjean went to a Soul Cycle course in The Castro. Little did she know that class was about to change her life. Three days later, Georjean wound up in the ER with a life threatening diagnosis of Rhabdomyolysis. During her hospital stay, she was advised that she was going to have emergency surgery on her left thigh for compartment syndrome. Amongst CT scans, MRIs, Sonograms, 4-hour window blood work, physical therapy and more, Georjean pulled through the surgery and was released after 8 long days. This is just the beginning of her recovery and she needs your help. It takes a village of support, love, and faith to get Georjean back on her feet. Any support is appreciated ❤️
