Prosthetic For George!

My name is Taylor Huntoon. Many of you know my dad, George Huntoon. He is a former police officer for Pottsboro, Texas. He loved his job and loved helping people. He is all around a very loving and wonderful man. Unfortunately he has been struggling with diabetes for a long time now. The last 3 years has been the hardest fight than ever, literally fighting for his life. George has fought with neuropathy, still working his job through it and doing everything normally and everything he can for his kids and grand babies, that he can through the pain in his feet. 2 years ago he was sent into the hospital for reconstructive foot surgery due to Charcot (weakening of the bones due to neuropathy). Most of the bones in his foot were broken. During surgery they had to put mostly metal and cadaver bone to attempt to save his foot and was in a boot to heal. 4 months later he was back into surgery because his foot was not healing, and rejecting the cadaver bone. After yet another surgery, his foot was not healing and not getting any better. After not being able to work due to his foot, he has had no insurance, so the doctors office he was going to refused to see him. Times are extremely hard. His foot has steadily gotten worse over the past year due to no medical help. Not long ago, he came up to Tulsa to stay with me so that I could help him and started him on soonercare. His foot developed a sore on the bottom of it that got severely infected, into the hardware and bone into his foot and even further this time into his leg. Last Monday, on Feb 13, his leg had to be amputated right under the knee and down. The next day, after complications with medicine, dad coded and we almost lost him. Thankfully the nurses and doctors were able to save him. Soonercare has covered most, but will not cover a prosthetic leg or process. We are not ones to ever ask anyone for help, unless absolutely needed and even then I hate asking. George loved his career helping people and now he cannot work as a peace officer anymore. He loved playing outside with his grand babies, and with his foot, he hasn't been able to even stand in a long time. I am trying to raise money to get him a prosthetic leg, and get him moving in as much of a normal life as I possibly can. He is a wonderful man, and deserves this. I promise the money raised will not be used for anything other than the leg and things that go with it. Without any insurance that covers this, it just gets really expensive. I wish I could do it all myself, but I can't. Any amount is appreciated and if you cannot, that's okay too. We accept prayers as well. Thank you so much!
