This is Just the Begining:
Hi! My name is Genesis . I am 17 and I have dreamed about being a professional dancer and actor for years. I have watched hours of "So You Think You Can Dance" and "America's Best Dance Crew". I fell in love with all the "Step-Up" movies, ok, maybe just the first two. I do great impersonations and the camera is my best friend.
Growing up in Harlem has been cool, but I am ready to expand. I am ready to grow. This is my senior year at St. Jean Baptiste and I want to "turn up". In a good way. I want to begin my career NOW!
So let me tell you a little bit about me real quick. I have been a part of an acting class. Big "shout out" to Marc John Jefferies Academy . I love it. I have been a dancer at the world's famous Dance Theatre of Harlem for seven years in their pre-professional program. So you may be asking, "what are you raising money for?"
Well, my parents are not rich, yet, and I have been afforded a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have the awesome chance to study with Elizabeth Kemp and attend the "Dream Workshop". So I am going to raise $2000, with YOUR help, so I can attend. Here is the thing. I am taking the place of someone who dropped out. There are 15 people. I will be the youngest. I'm super excited. But we need to raise the money by Sept 2nd.
So I need you to be all in! I need all my family and friends to chip in. If you know me, you know how passionate I am about dancing and acting. You also know how excited and scared I am of begining my career. I doubt myself sometimes, but I am making a commitment to trust those around me to move forward. Plus, I want to use my God given talent to tell the world about Genesis. So here it goes...Are you with me?
