Gena’s fight against ovarian cancer

Donation protected
My sister(Gena) is never ill;  no colds,  no flu, nothing. One day she felt as though she had fluid on her stomach, and had a MRI.  There was something there, and it turns out it was stage III metastic ovarian cancer. The next weeks were a bit of a roller coaster, we cried, she said I don't want to die I want to stay here with you and mom and Rory (her Cat). She asked me to save her.  I said I would.   That is what I have tried to do for the past five years.  Its been hard, we have had our ups and downs, trying to act normal, doing what had to be done and trying to have a little fun too.  She has been sick and weak, lost her hair twice from chemo, developed diabetes from the chemo treatments, and had to have her gallbladder removed. Despite all of this, she is remaining strong and one of the biggest fighters I’ve ever seen. But its always there and there are always limitations and a massive expense hanging over our heads.  September 23, makes 5 years since her diagnosis. She’s been through 2 surgeries, and  7 different kinds of Chemo.  Some worked well, for a while, but unfortunately it never lasted.  The doctors at KU now say they have no more options for treatment,  but the cancer is still there and growing.  We are blessed to have the chance for her to participate in a clinical trial at MD Anderson in Houston Texas. I want her to have that chance, if we can figure out a way.  We have to travel to Houston every week for 3 weeks in a row, then every 21 days after that for the foreseeable future. She will probably be embarrassed I started this fund.  In my family you don't ask for help you just help others when you can.  But the expenses are adding up, quickly. We don’t have another option, so this is why it’s come to this. Help if you can, we  understand if you can't. Even sharing this means so much.  That's our story. Please ask if you have any questions.
Thank You,
