Even as a puppy, her knees always seemed to bother her. When she squatted to urinate, she wouldn't fully bend them. She was also unable to jump up on even the lowest furniture. With her being a product of backyard breeding, we expected the worst. Her daddy happens to be a veterinary technician of 12 years. He took her into the hospital he works for to be assessed, as we noticed excessive stiffness in her hind legs. Radiographs showed that her cranial cruciate ligaments both had buttresses. We were told she is in need of a Tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy or TPLO. She has always had good days and bad days. We have treated her with Rimadyl when she seems to be very painful, which hasn't been all that often. As more time passes, though, we can see her legs becoming stiffer and she is more hesitant to jump up on furniture, get out of bed, and walk up the stairs. We know that soon it will be too severe to treat with pain medication, so we have decided to reach out and ask for ANY help we can get. We are struggling on one income with two children at the moment, so any help we can get is beyond appreciated. She is a wonderful dog with a heart of gold. I have never seen so much love in an animal. She has been the rock of our family in good times and bad. We just want to return the favor and give back to her. We just want to see our baby be comfortable and no longer painful.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We appreciate any and all help we can get.
