Emergency Assistance Gegenheimer

Donation protected
Dear Friends and those who come to assist,

It is time for me to eat some pride and take from the humble pie.

This is an experience I wish on no soul.

This request is to help Glenn Gegenheimer keep his home and help pay for his medicale expenses while he waits for bypass surgery. He has a blood clot in his heart which has to dissolve before they can do surgery. He will have to wait until mid June before they recheck to see if the clot disolved. Then after surgery he faces 2 to 3 months of recouperation.  Please read on to see why his family is asking for your help.

It is only after 13 years of traveling a very rough road that I am asking for help for my family and I.

We need immediate assistance to make it through the next 4  months due to my husband having had congestive heart failure a few weeks ago.

Glenn has not be feeling well for the past year. His not being able to keep up with the physical demands of his work as a contractor and my inability to match his earning potential has left us in a very rough spot.

Due to deteriorating health issues for my husband and being hit hard in the banking collapse of 2008 we are currently without insurance. Trying to keep things afloat we had to let go of our health insurance and sadly our life insurance policies that we had since 1987.

Your assistance will help us to get through this difficulty and build a new way of life that serves to better ourselves and community.

The following is our story and our plan. I pray this message reaches to right people.

Our story: We moved into our home in 2002 with our two sons Beau and Christian, Glenn being a builder and I a realtor. Beau started 5th grade and Christian kindergarten at Fredon Elementary School.  One year later my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 boney mass Hodgkin ’s disease. He overcame that with extensive chemo that left him physically weaker. This type of chemo caused damage to his heart muscles and brought on early diabetes.  Being only  41 at the time he regained his footing the best his could after a year of chemo and recuperation to continue his work as a contractor.  This was set back #1.  From 2004 to 2008 we raised our boys and Glenn was active coaching baseball and basketball for the local recreation leagues.

The collapse of the housing markets and banking failures started to affect us late 2008 and really hit us by 2010 when my oldest Beau was graduating Kittatniny High School. By this time we started to go through our savings to save our home and farm. For 3 years we made 30% less than normal. This sets up a slippery slope that is nearly impossible to recover from.

The stress of watching 25 years of hard work and savings slip away caused Glenn more stress than his heart could handle and he had his first heart attack the day before Beau graduated high school in 2010. This was set back # 2 and it caused us to fall behind on our mortgage and request a loan modification. We were able to earn our normal wage again but making up a 30% loss for 3 years is no small feat.  Three years later Glenn had a second heart attack in 2013 which was set back # 3 and we once again slipped on the mortgage payments and requested another modification which we were blessed to receive.  During these hard times we sold off every collectable we had and our larger pieces of farm equipment to survive. Our goal was to hold on long enough for Beau to graduate Rutgers where he commuted to in New Brunswick and for Christian to graduate high school. I tell you this to make you aware that we have reached rock bottom.

We have great boys who have been through a lot. They have worked alongside their father on the farm and in construction while holding down their own part time jobs while being A students.

In 2014 Glenn had a bad fall (set back #4) and broke his shoulder that took a winter to mend, yes you guessed it we fell behind on the mortgage once again and we were sure we would have been foreclosed upon again this spring. By the grace of god we were offered a loan modification once more though Glenn was not feeling well. In the middle of March I took him to the ER..they admitted him with congestive heart failure and the need for bypass surgery that cannot be performed due to a clot he has in his heart. He is currently on blood thinners in hopes the clot will dissolve by June and he can have the bypass surgery.  Set back # 5

We are in tender times now in hopes the clot dissolves without slipping through and causing a stroke or worse. Glenn cannot do his regular work in home improvements for at least the next 4 months; quite frankly I do not feel he should continue in this line of work. This is why I am asking for your assistance to help us to make it through the next few months and create a new way forward that is easier on Glenn and something I can do with him or alone if need be.

So here we are, God has seen fit to keep us where we are for a higher purpose. We have no funds to move and a miraculous last opportunity to keep our home. If we lose this opportunity we will be  asked to leave our home right around the time Glenn needs surgery.

Glenn has to go slow and lay low until June and should all go well 2 to 3 months of rehab after bypass.
It is taking every ounce of pride I have to ask for help.

What will your help do?

It will help us to stay in our home until Glenn has his surgery and recovers.

What we need is help to make it through the months ahead and getting our footing in a more secure future.
Whatever you can do for us will be greatly appreciated be it:
