God In The Sky - Short Film

Project Story:

'God In The Sky' tells the story of a young woman dealing with a crisis of faith. One day, an interstellar object appears on Earth and begins sending everyone visions of the afterlife - everyone except her.

Narrative rich with metaphor, ‘God In The Sky,’ explores living and coping with chronic illness through the lens of a sci-fi dramedy. It excavates the fragility of the human experience in a way that is relatable, and unforgettable.

Dan’s Story:

I'm Daniel Fox, a disabled animator from Melbourne, Australia.

In 2016 after working professionally in the animation industry for the previous two years, I set out to create a live-action sci-fi dramedy with a talented bunch of family and friends. I began scripting in 2016 - then life hit the proverbial fan.

Born with McCune-Albright Syndrome, I break bones at the drop of a hat. In 2016 I wound up in a terrible accident, broke two limbs and had to learn how to walk again. During rehabilitative therapy my bowel twisted and I had to undergo life-saving surgery which left me with a debilitating post-op infection.

11 weeks of intensive rehab later I went home to my new ‘normal,’ - and to the movie script. It was 2017. I wrote the remaining 20-odd pages in one sitting in a cathartic process, airing out of everything I'd been through in the past year. What began as a neat sci-fi idea became a project rich with personal significance.

How can you help?

By donating to our GoFundMe, you’re enabling our project team to do a quality job of telling a story we care deeply about.

Your donation means we can hire extras and use better equipment. For the tech nerds out there, it means we can secure anamorphic lenses, cranes and hydraulic dollies. It means we can use better costumes and production design, and employ another VFX artist to assist with the delivery of a quality product.

We'll be running this GoFundMe until Friday 12 April - So please, get clicking and help us finish making this film a reality.

Thanks,

Dan Fox and the ‘God In The Sky’ team.

GTS Cast:

Tali Simon – Tali is a recent TAFTA graduate and will be playing the lead role of “Dee”, a teenage girl who seems to be one of the only people not affected by the interstellar object's influence.

Mia Barrett – Mia will be joining the film as “Pat”, Dee's best friend and confidante with a glib sense of humour.

Mia has established herself as a recurring figure in Melbourne's short film scene, as she is also set to appear in the upcoming short film “Evil Fred”.

Briannah Borg – Briannah will feature in a supporting role as “Chloe”, a rather relaxed teenager who also joins Dee and Pat for their first day back at school.

Briannah is a current student of the Victorian College of the Arts and was previously featured in the “Girls Make Your Move” campaign from the Department of Health.

Louis Le – Louis will appear alongside Briannah as “Dave”, Chloe's stoner friend.

Despite being one of the youngest members of the cast, Louis is already a regular of the 16th Street acting studio and has steadily been appearing on Melbourne's short film scene for the past three years, with featured roles in “My First Kiss (Premature Decapitation)” and “Can You Keep A Secret”.

Jack Bochow – Jack will appear in a supporting role as “Security Guard”.

Jack is not only an actor, but a professional pianist and composer. Despite only making his way into Melbourne's world of short films last year, Jack has already appeared in multiple lead roles.
