San Antonio GS Troop 300 Libraries

Donation protected
In honor of San Antonio’s Tricentennial, Girl Scout Troop 300 has chosen a service project to spread its love of reading. They will be overseeing the construction and installation of 300 Little Free Libraries throughout San Antonio. The focus will be on book deserts and the historic city core with libraries to be installed in each city council district.

The announcement of the Little Free Library project was made at SA Reads’ headquarters. Troop 300 collected 1,949 books during a book drive to benefit SA Reads. “Our girls could not imagine a summer going by where there might be someone without a book to read.  The girls decided to change that.” stated Lari Marshall, Troop 300 Girl Scout co-leader.

Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. Through Little Free Libraries, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.

Troop 300 is looking for sponsors to help with costs of materials to build the libraries. They also need stewards in all areas of the city to help introduce the libraries to their communities. To learn more about the project please visit their website: Troop300lfl.com
