The Ron Clark Academy House System ("RCA House System") is a proven methodology that creates a positive climate and culture for students and staff by implementing various processes focused on building character, relationships, and school spirit. Gaston Middle School is very excited to introduce its very own house system for the 2021-2022 school year to bring out the best in our students through fun competition!
What is the house system exactly and how will we introduce it a GMS? Think Harry Potter! The Gaston House System will split students into four teams representing the virtues of 1. Giving, 2. Friendship, 3. Courage, and 4. Dreaming. The students will have opportunities to earn points for their respective team by going above and beyond. Teachers and staff will use the RCA House System Application ("house app") to notify students and their parents when students are awarded points as well as track total scores for the four houses. The awarding of points through the house app reinforces great behavior in students and, ultimately, inspires them to be excited about their school. Additionally, it encourages camaraderie within the student body all while providing each student a sense of identity and belonging.
What is needed to implement the house system and how much will it cost? In order to successfully implement the Gaston House System, we require various resources and supplies. GMS has graciously agreed to cover multiple cost including:
1. Televisions for scoreboards and misc. A/V equipment to create state of the art announcements [Fully funded- thank you, GMS!]
2. T-shirts for each student with their "house" name on it [Fully funded- thank you, GMS!]
The school has asked that the Gaston House System Committee (the group of teachers spearheading this effort) raise money for the remaining critical resources needed to effectively implement the system and see the desired results. We are asking for a total of $3,800 dollars to cover the following costs:
1. $2,400 dollars to pay for the house app subscription for our school ($200 per month for the entire year) [Requires fundraising]
2. $1,000 for miscellaneous supplies to decorate (banners, paint for hallways murals, posters, etc.) [Requires fundraising]
3. $400 for supplies for official house induction ceremony
Can we count on you to show your community support to create a character based culture for our students? Can you contribute $5, $10, $20, $25 dollars to implement this proven house system at GMS?
