HAVE YOU EVER FIXED A PET AT FIX A FRIEND? Can you give $5 to help us get it FIXED? 130,000 surgeries since 2013 when we opened---if everyone gave just $5 think of what we could do! I am the treasurer for Adopt an Angel, Tax ID is 20-0576752, a 501c3 charity. We own Fix A Friend Spay Neuter Clinic, 6033 Ocean Highway East in Winnabow, NC, and it experienced a flash flood on Monday, 9/16/2024, during a full day of surgeries. The building filled with 3 feet of water in less than 30 minutes due to a storm—not even a hurricane. We had 80 cats and 20 dogs in the building, many still recovering from surgery, and they were evacuated by boat. This was made possible through the heroic efforts of our staff and our emergency services. One of our employees trudged through the water to the side of the road and flagged them down as they were passing by. We have flood insurance that will partially pay to rebuild and some of its contents, but we are RAISING the 2400 square foot building 6 feet since this is the second time this has happened—once during Hurricane Florence. We can NEVER let this happen again. We also need to replace all of the medical equipment and supplies since we did not have any time to raise it high while we focused on saving lives instead. Five employees' cars were completely flooded and are total losses. This little mighty clinic spays and neuters 400 animals a week and is the hub for over 40 animal rescues and shelters and the public to fix their animals at a significantly low cost.
Our dream is to build this clinic back higher, but the truth is we had already outgrown it. So we would love to get this back up, higher, then build a bigger clinic next door (we own two acres of land) and then turn this existing clinic into an adoption center or our shelter since we do not have one. Our homeless animals stay in boarding facilities and foster homes.
