Granny's House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit after school program in Columbia, MO that exists to share the love of God with kids in public housing.
For the past 12 years, we have been participating in Kids Across America, better known as KAA. KAA is a Christian sports camp in Golden, Missouri, just south of Branson, and is the inner city camp affiliated with Kanakuk Kamps. KAA's mission is to build Christian leaders by encouraging, equipping and empowering urban youth and their mentors through camping and education.
Granny's House absolutely loves KAA -- it's THE highlight of the kids' summer! The last week of July, we send 30-40 kids to Kamp. Last year, we had several kids come to know Christ and many more rededicate their lives to Him. Every summer at Kamp, there is a change in these kids' hearts and lives that is life-changing and inspiring. Here is a video from last year's session:
After their $165 registration fees, all supplies and clothes needed for Kamp, and transportation, it costs approximately $500 for each Granny's House child to attend KAA. Thanks to your donations, we are able to require our kids to only pay a $25 deposit fee to attend Kamp.
Granny's House provides each child with all clothes and supplies needed for KAA--but we don't just give it to them; the children do chores and tasks around Granny's House to earn points to use to purchase their supplies in the Kamp store. We want them to earn the chance to go to Kamp -- but the chance only exists if we are able to raise the funds we need. That's where YOU come in!
There are so many stories that we could share with you about KAA and how it changes these kids lives. If you would like to read more about KAA, please visit http://kidsacrossamerica.org.
