Declining State Revenues to Education has put a burden on High School athletic programs. The value of athletics cannot be overestimated.
With my daughter a part of my old track team at GCHS, I am passionate about raising awareness about the financial burden the program is faced with.
To start this mission I thought I would reach out to GCHS Track Alumni, like myself, to help keep the program alive and thriving. This is not limited to track alumni and all are encouraged to join.
Transportation & travel, registration fees, equipment, tents for coverage at meets, food & beverages at meets and uniforms are some of many items the coaches are having athletes raise money for. Every athlete must get sponsorship but coaches don't have time to provide students with how to go about getting sponsored especially with close to 100 student participating in 2017.
Track taught me so much about who I was and what I was capable of and my fellow runners, I couldn't have done it without you.
Let's let the coaches get back to coaching and reunite as Alumni to raise money & support for this group of talented athletes.
Our future Alumni deserve the same opportunities we once took for granted so let's take this opportunity to give back to the program, that opened so many doors , for so many of us, so long ago.
