Funeral expenses for Gwa’sala Nakwaxdaxw Matriarch

Hello everyone, It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear elder Janet Paul from the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw on January 18th, 2021. She was the last of 16 siblings. Janet had been married to her husband Vivian for 61 years when he passed away in 2014. In her lifetime Janet was given two Chieftainships , she held on to these titles with pride and was recognized by many Chiefs today. She was a mother to seven girls, and had many grandchildren & great grandchildren. A resilient life giver, sacred knowledge keeper and well respected Matriarch. She will be missed by so many. This fundraiser is being created on behalf of my Henderson family members - especially my Aunt Dorothy who is one of Janet’s daughters. They are trying to organize her final details in the midst of this ongoing pandemic. A small socially distant service will be held in Port Hardy for her close family members. I am unfortunately unable to attend due to Covid and so I am organizing this fundraiser to help alleviate some of their stress during this difficult time. All donations are appreciated.
