My friend’s dad, Antonio Torres, recently passed away due to Covid. He was 73 years old and suffered from diabetes.
On January 18th, he was taken to the hospital after many unsuccessful attempts to control his glucose levels. He was also beginning to show symptoms of Covid. Once at the hospital, it was confirmed that he was positive.
The next morning he went into cardiac arrest. He survived it, but had to begin treatment on a ventilator and dialysis due to kidney failure. He fought for his life for 8 days and even showed signs of improvement after a Facetime call with his family. Unfortunately, he regressed after an attempt to slowly reduce the amount of oxygen support he was receiving.
On January 26th, the family was informed of his critical condition. He passed away at 11:20 PM that night.
Antonio was a loving father, husband, and friend. He will be missed dearly by his family--including his loyal dog, “Kahlito," who never left his side.
