Thank you for reading my fundraising page.
I am raising money for a baby born with cardiac abnormalities. Baby is in Intensive Care Unit, in a desperate situation and need your support to get us out of this.
The community are my brothers and sisters and I really don’t know who else to ask because I have exhausted all the necessary service providers.
Child was born with a heart condition. A diagnosis: Coarctation of the aorta (small left heart)
Tricuspid regurgitation
Persistent left superior caval vein.
there is a major cardiac abnormality.
there is a high suspicion of severe coarctation of the aorta with small left heart and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation. In view of todays findings there is a high chance that neither biventricular nor univentricular repair after birth will be feasible. This is because the left heart is already too small to support systemic circulation and there is a significant tricuspid valve regurgitation, which would preclude from univentricular repair (Fontan circulation). Fontan circulation is a life limiting treatment with very high mortality on morbidity in medium term.
The postnatal management would depend not only on cardiac findings but also on extra-cardiac findings, weight and gestation at birth, and whether the baby has an underlying genetic condition. If genetic condition is confirmed active surgical treatment will unlikely feasible after birth.
The support we are in need of financially expenses would go towards the baby necessities; baby monitor with heart and breathing sense, travel to and from hospitals that are far distant from home, food and basic essentials like nappies, wipes, milk, baby formula, medication, bottles, bottle steriliser, pram, car seat, cot, children’s clothing and footwear and toiletries.
This support would help immediately to prepare for baby and ongoing health appointments. This support would also help in the longer term as there would be daily visits to different hospitals out of the borough for the family.
