Fundación Acompaña
Hello!
As you might know, I volunteered in Santiago, Chile almost seven years ago now at home for girls. The girls were ages 3 to 18 and were placed there for reasons of abuse and abandonment. For many, this is the only place that they have ever called home. The property was recently sold to a real estate investor and the home has closed.
The girls were set to be scattered across Santiago in different children´s homes, but the director, Kathy, found a way to keep them together. She opened a new home and foundation called Fundación Acompaña (you can find them on Facebook and Instagram.) She brought as many of the girls to live with her as she could: keeping sisters together, ensuring girls who have had the hardest stories would not need to move again and helping the oldest girls live out their adolescence without another upheaval. Now, there are 13 girls in total living happily together. This is Kathy´s dream.
I went to visit the girls in their new home. It is lovely! Located in a higher income neighborhood, the new home offers better access to good healthcare and public schools. I believe in Kathy´s dream to keep these girls together and would love your help. If you could donate $5, $10, $20 or more that would be wonderful.
These funds will go to helping make ends meet like stocking the pantry with food and helping buy simple housing supplies like toilet paper, toothbrushes, sanitary napkins, etc. Basic needs for 13 girls.
