In the summer of 2011 we produced a musical in our backyard called "Lemony Snicket: The Musical." Over 500 people attended the 3 performances! This summer we're hoping to bring a NEW family show to the neighborhood. It's called "THE SOMEWHAT TRUE TALE OF ROBIN HOOD." If you love Monty Python with a scattering of Mel Brooks, then you're in for a fun ride!
Here's the scoop: Because we didn't write this show, it costs money to produce. Did you know it'll cost us $225 just to get the rights to do it? Then there's the cost of scripts for 14 actors, costumes, set pieces and props...not to mention the publicity posters, programs and all the things we need to let the community know about the show. We also are hiring a few professional actors to supplement our cast, and we'll need to pay them to support their families (hey--just like us!) Plus, we want to offer this show as a free, donation-only ticket price. Theatre should be for everyone, right?
So. We need your help. We believe that theatre like this brings our communities together, and...well, with the kind of winter we've had...we just want to get out and ENJOY the outdoors! What better way to do that than by scooping up your lawn chair and bringing it over to our yard to watch a show? Make your plans for August 1-3, 2014, 6:30pm, at 1829 Burr St in Maplewood!
With sincerest thanks,
Joy and Michael Donley
