War has already taken so much from me and my family. But in the middle of all the loss, I received a light of hope; I have been awarded the Schlumberger Scholarship to pursue my PhD at the University of Aberdeen, UK, starting in October 2025. A dream I worked so hard for.

My name is Alaa Mohammed Ali, and this opportunity is not only my dream come true, but also a chance to rebuild my future and serve others through my research.

The challenge I am facing now is heartbreaking; the scholarship does not cover visa and health insurance costs for myself, my husband, and our newborn baby. These expenses are extremely high:

Health insurance (per person): £2,716 (3830$)

Visa (per person): £525 (700$)

Not including flight tickets.

For the three of us, the total cost is almost (15000$), which is really overwhelming.

I cannot start this new chapter without my family by my side. That is why I am reaching out, with hope and humility, asking for your support.
