Rewasau Village in Naitasiri, Fiji, is raising funds because our children have been carrying a heavy burden simply to get an education. For nearly two decades, we have asked for help to secure a proper local primary school, but our village is still without one. In the meantime, more than 170 students travel together in a three-ton truck to reach school far from home. This is unsafe, overcrowded, and stressful for the kids. When the truck breaks down or there is no fuel, which is happening more often these days, our children are forced to walk long distances. To make that commute work, many students wake up as early as 4:45 a.m., leaving them tired before the school day even begins.
Building our own village primary school is important right now because it is the clearest path to protecting our children and giving them a fair chance to learn well. A school in Rewasau means no more dangerous truck rides, no more exhausting walks when transport fails, and no more predawn starts. It means children arriving to class rested, safe, and ready to focus. We have already taken the first steps by converting and renovating one of our church’s old halls into classrooms, and extending it to serve as the foundation of the school we plan to open next year. Now we need help to finish what we have started.
Funds will go toward building materials, classroom furniture like desks and chairs, and essential school supplies so our children can learn in a proper, supportive environment. This project is about dignity, safety, and opportunity. With your support, Rewasau Village can give its children a school they can walk to, learn in with pride, and grow from for generations. Please help us finish what we have started and bring hope to our community.
